Roof Repair and Replacement Serving Transylvania County

Perhaps one of the most beautiful parts of North Carolina is Transylvania County, which is colloquially known as the “Land of the Waterfalls” due to its more than 200 natural waterfalls. These features make the area especially appealing for families and individuals seeking a vibrant community and scenic environment.

However, keeping this area beautiful involves properly maintaining residential and commercial roofs, which is where Integrity Roofing comes in. As a local business, we’re here to serve the residents and businesses of Transylvania County.

Residential and Commercial Roofing Materials

Integrity Roofing offers many options and features for residential and commercial roofing materials, allowing customers to choose the best fit for their needs in Transylvania County. They include:

  • Asphalt tiles. The most popular shingle in the country is the asphalt tile, and for good reason: it’s functional, affordable, and easy to install. Customers who need new roofing but are concerned about their finances and aren’t interested in filing an insurance claim for their roofing needs are more than pleased with our asphalt tiles.
  • Clay tiles. Popular in “Mediterranean”-style homes in Spanish and Italianate styles, clay tiles are durable terracotta tiles often found in Southeast and Southwest homes. When properly installed, these durable tiles can last up to 100 years on a roof and provide superior protection against the elements.
  • Concrete tiles. Concrete tiles have become popular in recent years, especially as Transylvania County’s hurricanes have become more severe (Hurricane Helene being the most recent and devastating example). This durable roofing option comes in various colors and sizes but often requires additional reinforcement on the roof to maintain the newfound weight of the tiles.
  • Composite tiles. Composite tiles combine the form of slate tiles with the function of concrete tiles, creating a unique and durable look at a fraction of the price. These tiles are also made from synthetic materials, designed to withstand even the harshest elements.
  • Metal roofing. Like concrete tiles, metal roofing has become more prevalent in recent years due to its virtually leakproof quality, which is handy when hurricanes hit Transylvania County. Metal roofing is known for its outstanding performance, offering superior durability, resistance to high winds, rain, and temperature fluctuations, and long-term protection while maintaining a modern look. Moreover, due to its increasing popularity, metal roofing has become more aesthetically pleasing, though these roofs are more common for commercial installations than residential ones. Nevertheless, metal roofing is designed to last a near-lifetime.
  • Wood and synthetic shake tiles. For residential customers who prefer to stick with the classics and aren’t under the constant threat of a looming hurricane, wood and synthetic shake tiles are the perfect choice. Made of wood, cedar, or artificial products, these shake tiles capture the feeling of the “old world” without sacrificing form or function.

With so many options and features available, our team is here to help you find and choose the right roofing options for your home or business.

CertainTeed Roofing

Integrity Roofing is pleased to use CertainTeed Roofing for our premium asphalt shingle offering. Offering a first-class manufacturer’s warranty and sturdy, affordable products, CertainTeed Roofing is the perfect blend of form and function.

CertainTeed Roofing offers a “Luxury” line, which provides laminated shingles that give your home a luxe look at a fraction of the price. Homeowners can rely on the quality of these products. The “Luxury” line gives homes a classic “wood shake” appearance without requiring the maintenance of “real” wood.

The “Landmark” line also provides the right mix of form and functionality for those who prefer a more muted, modern look. In addition to providing your home with unparalleled curb appeal, the Landmark line protects your home from the harshest of elements. With Integrity Roofing’s guarantee of quality installation, you can rest assured that your home will be safe, secure, and sound for years.

Other Services We Offer

Despite our name, Integrity Roofing offers more than just roofing services. We also provide a variety of “roofing adjacent” services for both residential homes and commercial businesses, including:

  • Emergency repairs. Need a repair in the middle of the night? Did a sudden storm cause untold damage to your home or business? Integrity Roofing can help.
  • Insurance claims. After a storm, it can be hard to determine whether the damage on your roof is from normal wear-and-tear or whether it’s damage from the storm. Integrity Roofing has decades of experience working with insurance companies in the area, and we’re pleased to help our clients through the arduous process of filing a claim. We will see the claim through from beginning to end, ensuring your satisfaction – and peace of mind – along the way.
  • Siding services. Maintaining your home or business siding isn’t just about aesthetics (although you want both to look good!). It’s about ensuring your walls are protected from the elements. At Integrity Roofing, our dedicated professionals will work tirelessly to ensure your siding gives your home the best curb appeal while protecting the walls from the elements. This ensures your home remains both sturdy and beautiful for years to come.
  • Power washing. Sometimes, your home could use a little refresher. Rather than dumping harsh chemicals onto the area – and, consequently, leeching them into the soil and the water – let Integrity Roofing clean your home with the power of water. Our power washing services will ensure your home is adequately cleansed from all the dirt, grime, and elements, restoring your investment to its original beauty.

If you’re afraid you can’t afford our services, never fear: Integrity Roofing offers affordable in-house financing, starting at as little as $500. No prepayment penalty or home equity is required; most customers qualify for the funding. This gives our customers the freedom to handle their finances the best way they know how, without worrying about a “burnout” bull at the end of the day. Let Integrity Roofing give you peace of mind!

I Installed A 30 Year Shingle Should Be Good For 30 Years…Right?

Unfortunately, that is not true. The manufacturer’s guarantee is a bit deceiving.

The 30-year manufacturer warranty (or 25, 40, or lifetime) is against manufacturer’s defects. Most new roof structures are designed to supply beneficial services ranging from 15, 20 even 25 years. Some roof system types such as slate and metal structures can last longer.

The actual roof system life span is determined by way of a wide variety of factors, including local climatic and environmental conditions, suitable building and roof system design, quality and suitability, ideal application and adequate roof maintenance.

Therefore, a 30 yr shingle will most likely not last 30 years. We have seen 30-year shingles need to be changed after 10 years due to extreme climatic and environmental conditions. Roofing product manufacturers provide a range of warranties on their products.

Take a close look at these warranties to see what duties and financial responsibilities manufacturers will assume if their merchandise fails to reach their product’s life expectancy.

How Can I Spot A Failing Roof?

When you’re trying to determine how healthy your roof is, the first thing to note is its age. An asphalt roof that’s older than 20 years is overdue for replacement. This is the easiest way to get ahead of the damages that go along with an aging roof, but younger roofs can develop problems too, which is why it’s good to inspect your roof at least twice a year.

Inspection is easy since you can do it from the ground with a good pair of binoculars. Look for shingles that are curling, areas where they’ve cracked or maybe gone missing, or shingles that are missing the granules on top.

Additionally, you might consider heading to the attic on a sunny day to check for holes where light peeks through in the underside of your roof. Problem spots tend to be near the chimney and stack vents.

If your roof is beginning to fail, you’ll see pinholes of sunlight peeking through, indicating that your roof could use a bit of maintenance.

While you’re up there, be sure to check for wet spots in the ceiling. If you see anything suspicious, call a roofer immediately–water damage that has seeped all the way to the attic can be a serious problem.

Does My Roof Need To Be Replaced?

Composition or asphalt shingles typically wear in a discreet way. Granules start coming off leaving black patches showing. Shingles also start to curl at the ends.

In general, some people assume if a roof leaks they need to replace it. Unless it’s an older roof, leaks can normally be repaired. With leaking in older roofs and/or if your roof has a leak in more than one area, this can imply trouble.

Can I Do The Work Myself?

Most roofing work should not be a homemade project. Professional roofing contractors are skilled to safely & correctly repair or replace a roof.

Do-it-yourself can damage a roof with unsuitable roofing strategies and can harm themselves by way of falling through the roof or even falling off the roof.

A do-it-yourself roofing task more often than not results in extra prices and headaches for the owner of a house in the long run.

Can We Add A Second Layer Of Shingles Over An Existing Layer?

Although the benefits of leaving your old shingles are obvious (cheaper, much less labor, faster), unless the preliminary roof is a single, problem-free layer, you could be setting yourself up for trouble.

You should take off the old roof if any of the following are true:

  • Inspection indicates it is in terrible shape—shingles are curled, mossy, split, etc.
  • The decking is sagging, rotting or deteriorating.
  • The new roof is of a lighter material than the original roof. If you put light-weight shingles over heavyweight shingles, all of the old bumps and ridges from the original roof will still show.

Your roof already has more than one layer.

At Integrity Roofing, LLC, we do not do recovers, we believe removing the old shingles and underlayment is necessary to inspect the roof decking. This imperative to assure there are no underlying issues that would cause the new roof to leak.

What Is Flashing?

There are a lot of roofing blogs out there that tell homeowners to check their flashing for damage regularly, but not a lot of them explain what exactly flashing is: it’s the material that’s used over joints in roof construction. It functions as an added layer of protection that keeps water from seeping into vulnerable areas like the valleys in your roof, the area around pipes and your chimney, and around any skylights. Most flashing is made out of aluminum or galvanized steel. From time to time it can come loose or deteriorate at a faster rate, allowing leaks to form in those vulnerable areas.

Luckily, flashing problems are an easy fix, so long as you catch them quickly. Typically you can just add new flashing, or secure the old flashing back down with a roofing adhesive. This is something handy homeowners might be able to do on their own, but if you’re unsure about working on the roof, it’s best to save yourself the stress and just call a professional. Flashing fixes are quick and inexpensive.
